Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid EIPA credential with a score of 4.0 or higher
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to student needs
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
- Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Committed to punctual, consistent attendance and reliable transportation
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct interpretation services for an elementary-aged student in the classroom and school setting
- Accurately convey spoken communication into American Sign Language and vice versa, fostering access to curriculum and social interaction
- Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, school staff, and families to ensure the student’s participation and success
- Maintain a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes student engagement and self-advocacy
- Uphold ethical guidelines and comply with all school policies and interpreter protocols
