Make a difference in the lives of students by providing essential communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work onsite in a dynamic school environment, serving a diverse student population with a range of educational needs—from mild to severe—in both special education and general education settings. You’ll travel between school sites in the area, collaborating with dedicated educators and building meaningful connections with students.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization for educational interpreting (required)
- EIPA score of 3.5 or above (required for this role)
- Proven experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational or similar settings
- Comfortable with itinerant assignments; ability to travel between multiple school locations
- Strong ability to interpret in both special education and general education classrooms, with students of varying ages and needs
- Professionalism, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students, staff, and families in educational settings
- Foster communication access in SPED and Gen Ed classrooms, as well as during school activities
- Maintain confidentiality, ethics, and cultural sensitivity in all interpreting assignments
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support students’ educational goals
- Provide support across multiple school sites as an itinerant interpreter
