This full-time, full school year position requires working onsite across multiple campuses, providing interpretation for both Special Education (SPED) and General Education students with a diverse range of needs, from mild to severe.
As an itinerant interpreter, you’ll collaborate closely with educators, helping to bridge communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and support staff. Your service will be a key component to ensuring accessibility and equal participation in all aspects of school life.
To thrive in this position, you must bring:
- An active CDE Authorization as an educational Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required for placements in the state
- EIPA assessment score of 3.5 or higher, as mandated by authorization standards
- Proven ability to interpret in both SPED and general education classrooms
- Flexibility to travel between multiple school sites as part of an itinerant team
- Strong communication and adaptability skills for working with students with varied needs
Your responsibilities will include:
- Interpret spoken and signed communication in classroom and school settings
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of interpretation
- Support student engagement and participation in the school environment
- Work alongside teachers, therapists, and special education teams
