Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Littleton, Colorado
Make an impact supporting students with your Sign Language Interpreter expertise in a dynamic, inclusive educational environment. This full-time, contract assignment is a fantastic opportunity for skilled interpreters seeking variety and professional growth. Working onsite throughout the school year, you’ll provide vital access to communication and learning for students in both special education and general education settings, ranging from mild to severe needs.
As an itinerant interpreter, you’ll collaborate with staff and students across multiple school sites, adapting to diverse classroom settings. You’ll leverage your knowledge to ensure students have full access to curriculum, participate in classroom discussion, and reach their greatest potential.
To be considered, candidates must have:
- An EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required for CDE Authorization)
- Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization as an educational interpreter (or eligibility to obtain)
- Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in school environments
- Confidence interpreting in SPED (special education) and general education settings, from mild to severe needs
- Flexibility to travel between multiple school sites as part of an itinerant role
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
In this role, your commitments will include:
- Interpreting classroom instruction, school events, and meetings for students and staff
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create accessible learning environments
- Maintaining professional standards, confidentiality, and ethics outlined by the school system and CDE
- Adjusting interpretation approaches to best fit individual student needs
