This engaging contract role is based in a junior high school setting, dedicated to providing focused support for one student, with responsibilities that extend to academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities like choir, dance, and cheer. Working Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm, plus occasional support for extracurricular events, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring every school day is enriching and inclusive.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with children, preferably in educational or youth-centered environments
- Sign Language Interpreter certification from the Registry for the Deaf or the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Flexibility for variable hours related to extracurricular student support
- Ability to maintain required district fingerprinting credentials (existing prints may be considered)
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for classroom instruction, co-curricular programs, school events, meetings, staff development, and ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) Committee meetings
- Offer tutoring support for the student under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Assist with maintaining administrative records and preparing necessary reports
- Support positive student behavior, crisis intervention, and adapt communication approaches to individual student needs
- Regularly communicate student progress, needs, and concerns to instructional staff
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and special school events
